Kenting

The Kenting Karst Forest Dynamics Plot was established in 1996 by the cooperation between Dr. I-Fang Sun, Professor of the Department of Life Science, Tunghai University, and the Hengchun Research Center, Taiwan Forestry Research Institute (TFRI). When first established, the plot was finished 6 ha in size in 1999 owing to budget and manpower shortage, but expanded to 10 ha in 2001 by the Hengchun Research Center, TFRI. Based on experiences and achievements from the first census, the Taiwan Forestry Research Institute finished the first re-census smoothly from January to October in 2008. The TFRI also set up 72 seed traps in 2006 and 144 seedling plots in 2007 for long-term monitoring works conducted by Dr. Yi-Ching Lin, Professor of the Department of Life Science, Tunghai University.
