The 5 hm2 Baishanzu Forest Dynamics Plot is located in the north slope of Baishanzu peak in Baishanzu Nature Reserve, eastern China. Vegetation in the plot is subtropical evergreen broad leaved forest in middle mountains.
The 20 ha Dinghushan permanent plot was established in lower subtropical evergreen Broadleaved forest in Dinghu Mountain of Guangdong province in 2005, with the geographical coordinate 23.10ºN, 112.32ºE and altitudes ranging from 230 to 470m，slope of 30-50 degree.
The 25 ha (500m x 500m) Fushan Forest Dynamics Site was established in 2003 and two subsequent census of growth, mortality, and recruitment was conducted during 2008-2009 and 2013-2014, respectively.
The 50 ha (1000×500 m) Heishiding (HSD) site was initiated in 2011. The first census was completed in 2013. It lies within the Heishiding Provincial Reserve in western Guangdong province, China.
The Hong Kong plot is located in the Tai Po Kau Nature Reserve, a 460-hectare protected area including Hong Kong’s most extensive forest.
The Nanjenshan Forest Dynamics Plot was established in 1989 in the Nanjenshan Nature Reserve of Ken-Ting National Park in southern Taiwan, an area lies between the tropics and the sub-tropics. The original plot measured 3 ha (300m x 100m) and was enlarged to 5.88 ha in 1997.
The 15 hectare (500 × 300 m) Nonggang Karst Seasonal Rainforest Dynamics Plot was established in 2011. It is located in the Nonggang National Nature Reserve of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, south China, and adjacent to northeastern Vietnam.
The 20-ha Tiantong plot was established in 2009 at 29.8°N, 121.8°E, located in core area of Ningbo Tiantong National Forest Park, Zhejiang Province. Altitude of the plot varies from 304.26 m to 602.89 m.
