Description: The Research Manager is responsible for management, administration, and data curation of the STRI Quantitative Forest Ecology Lab to assure its smooth and efficient operation. The position includes: 1) integrative data analysis, including resolving analytical challenges of complex environmental and organismal datasets and automating workflows; 2) the development and management of research projects in the field and lab; and 3) training, mentoring, and supervision of laboratory employees, interns, fellows, and visitors.
Qualifications: Candidate must have Bachelor’s degree in the natural sciences, computer science, engineering, or another relevant field; 2+ years relevant work experience or master’s degree; Strong programming skills, knowledge of R and Python; experience in data management; Ability to communicate fluently in English and Spanish; Strong project management skills; Strong interpersonal skills; Excellent leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills; Willingness and physical ability to conduct field work in tropical forests. It is desirable if candidate has familiarity with forest ecology, plant ecology, and/or remote sensing.
